Wenger To Bring Reinforcements From Real Madrid

Arsenal is getting close to trying to bring reinforcements from Real Madrid once again. After Ozil made his way to the Emirates, it is time for a defender to strengthen the lines. Portuguese left-back, Fabio Coentrao is finally ready to leave Spain for the Premier League. He has been linked to a move even since he started with Real Madrid where he barely made the team due to Marcelo who was and still is number one. According to Metro, Wenger is lining up for a move that will solve many of the Gunners’ defensive problems and will need to come up with an offer close to £12million.

Coentrao is under contract with Real until 2019 but has had a very difficult time becoming a team regular. Despite signing a new extended deal with the Spanish side just a week back, he is going to probably be on the market in June. Not only does the Portuguese defender need to play more, he also needs a change in scenery. He has already won all that he can win with Real Madrid and a new challenge would be great motivation for a 28 year old Champions League winner who spent his last 4 years in La Liga.

Even though rumors have it that Real will ask for £25million, it is very likely that Arsenal will get Coentrao for a lot less than that. The contract extension he received this January is very likely to have been a way to keep the Portuguese player from leaving for free.
