ResultsLEWISBURG, PA – Eight different athletes totaled nine conference qualifying times as the IUP track & field teams competed in the second day of Bucknell's 17th annual Bison Open on Saturday.
Kiah Walton (Burlington, N.J./Burlington) was the lone IUP athlete with a pair of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying marks, finishing with a time of 8.35 in the finals of the women's 60 meter dash to go along with a leap of 5.09 meters in the long jump.
Other women with PSAC qualifying marks were
Brooke Smay (Mineral Point, Pa. /Forest Hills) and
Kristen Knass () in the triple jump, finishing with distances of 11.01 and 10.14 meters, respectively.
The men were highlighted by
Troy Zangaro (Pittsburgh, Pa. /North Hills), who finished first in the 400 meter dash with a PSAC qualifying time of 50.32.
A pair of distance runners in
Andrew Morgan (Ulysses, Pa. /Northern Potter) and
Austin Cooper (King of Prussia, Pa. /Upper Merion) hit their marks in the mile, finishing right behind one another with time of 4:23.42 and 4:23.90, respectively. Over to the field events,
Demetrius Timmons () finished second in the long jump with a leap of 6.57 meters while Charles Wilson Adams cleared 1.84 meters on the high jump.
The Crimson Hawks finished with 19 total PSAC qualifying marks over the weekend, getting 10 on Friday night. Distance events were the main highlight for IUP during the two days with a total of eight.
IUP is back in action next week, traveling to Ohio to compete at the Spire Institute in Geneva.
