The WrestleMania Reading Challenge will take place in the United States and Canada from Oct. 16-25, with a new, one-week format. The initiative is being held in coordination with Teen Read Week, Oct.17-23. (More information | Official rules | Participating libraries)

WrestleMania Reading Challenge spokesperson Rey Mysterio answered WWE.com's Q&A about reading in honor of the upcoming event.

What was your favorite book as a kid?
Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak

How has reading helped you in your career as a WWE Superstar?
Reading has helped motivate me to become a spokesperson for programs like the WrestleMania Reading Challenge. It has motivated me to become more involved in my community, and to keep learning new things.

Which literary character would you most want to be?
Harry Potter

Who introduced you to books and reading and did you have any reading idols, such as a grandmother or a teacher?
Two of my brothers read a lot. My elementary school teachers were big on pushing kids to read. If you read a certain amount of books, they would provide you with incentives, sort of like what we are doing with the WrestleMania Reading Challenge.

What do you like most about reading?
Reading takes me to a different place than my everyday life. I usually get fully involved in what I'm reading about, so it's a great escape.

Where is your favorite place to read?
My favorite place to read is next to the pond in my backyard.

What are your favorite reads of all time?
All of the Harry Potter novels by J.K. Rowling, Solving the Greatest Mystery of our Time: The Mayan Calendar by Carl Johan Calleman.

What would you say to someone who doesn't like reading to encourage them to give it a go?
Start reading what makes you feel comfortable. Read a magazine, a comic book. Start small, and build from there to books and graphic novels. Once you get used to reading, you'll be hooked on the habit.
