So-called western backed “Syria's opposition National Coalition” elected Sunday night Khaled Khoja as the group's president after its current head Hadi Al-Bahra opted not to run for re-election, KUNA reports.

Khoja received 56 votes out of 109 Yehia Maktabi, Jawad Abou Hatab and Nasr Al-Hariri were others hopefuls who can’t defeat him.Hadi al Bahra former head of this group is considered to have close links with Saudi Arabia.

Term of the newly-elected head is one year instead of six months after the regulations of the coalition had been amended last week, the sources said.

So-called National Coalition having tenuous links with fighters on the ground and is seen out of touch with ordinary Syrians people.

The coalition's members elected Nader Othman as deputy “prime minister”, Abdel Razeq Hussein as “Minister of Justice” and Samah Hadaiya as “Minister of Culture”.

Ahmad Tama heads the interim government.

On December 2012, Khaled Khoja, formerly spokesperson for the "Syrian National Council" (SNC) and a member of the "Syrian National Coalition" that was established on Nov 2012 had a false dream. He believed that "My guess is that regime will fall before the end of the first month of the New Year," in an interview with Turkey todays zaman.

Khoja was born in Damascus in 1965 and moved to Libya. He studied at the Political Science Faculty, Istanbul University from 1985-1986 and then at the Medical Faculty, 9th of September University from 1987 to 1994.
