Heavily armed forces surrounded the house of Sheikh Ali Salman, Secretary General of Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, yesterday to deliver a summons to appear at the interrogations department (office 99)on Sunday.

Bahrain's Interior Ministry ordered Salman to appear before police investigators on Sunday. The ministry provided no explanation as to why the summons was issued.

Al-Wefaq Society considered this an adventure by the regime to run away from the suffocating crisis with its people. The escalation came after tens of thousands of Bahrainis joined a mass pro-democracy rally on Friday afternoon. On Friday evening, Al Wefaq Society held its General Assembly which was attended by thousands of its members.

On October 28, the Manama administrative court banned the activities of the opposition group and gave it three months to hold an assembly to elect its leaders.
