Joan Rivers news updates continue to speculate whether her death could have been prevented. Daughter Melissa, however, is trying to maintain privacy following the release of the autopsy report.

Melissa Rivers, according to the Joan Rivers news update from CNN, wrote on her Twitter after the autopsy report was released: "In response to NYC's Medical examiner's report, we continue to be saddened by our tragic loss. No further comment at this time."

The report from the medical examiner revealed that the comedian died of "therapeutic complications."

"The classification of a death as a therapeutic complication means that the death resulted from a predictable complication of medical therapy," the article said about Joan Rivers news, adding that that cause of death was "anoxic encephalopathy due to hypoxic arrest."

Simply put, the 81-year-old comedian suffered brain damage due to lack of oxygen.

Joan Rivers news previously revealed that the "Fashion Police" host succumbed to cardiac arrest "during laryngoscopy and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy with propofol sedation for evaluation of voice changes and gastroesophageal reflux disease."

Joan Rivers died on September 4 after what seemed like a routine endoscopy, which involves inserting a tiny camera to look down her throat. Accordingly the clinic might be liable for allowing her own throat doctor, who was not authorized to practice at the clinic, to examine her as well.

In other Joan Rivers news update from MSN, the medical examiner concluded that there's no foul play in her death as it was consistent with the predicted complications arising from its type of surgery to the vocal cords.

The NY Daily News earlier reported that the comedian is leaving a bulk of her $150 million estate to her daughter, Melissa Rivers, and grandson. But a good chunk will also go to her four rescued dogs.

"Those dogs are her family. They meant the world to her and Joan wanted to make sure that if anything happened to her that they would be taken care of," a friend of the comedian told @Confidential per NY Daily News.
