Limited Alec Bradley Fine & Rare Ships
Alec Bradley Fine & Rare, the 10-tobacco-leaf cigar from the makers of Prensado, has just begun to ship to cigar retailers. The 2014 incarnation—a figurado measuring 7 inches long with a ring gauge of 54 at its fattest point—is crafted from a mixture of Honduran and Nicaraguan leaves at the Raices Cubanas factory in Honduras.
Fine & Rares are the most limited-production smokes from Alec Bradley. Each version is somewhat different from those that came before, and this big, shaped smoke goes by the code name Ta-25A. Alec Bradley produced only 3,000 regular boxes of Fine & Rare Ta-25A for the world, each box containing 10 cigars.
In addition, there's a special "Blender's Box," containing 10 Fine & Rare cigars plus 10 puritos, a small cigar for each of the 10 components used to make this blend. The Blender's Box, which is also shipping now, retails for $475.
Fine & Rare (a version of which made Cigar Aficionado's Top 25 back in 2012) is the second major release from Alec Bradley this year. The first, Alec Bradley Coyol, began shipping two weeks ago. Coyol gets its name from a Honduran farm that takes a big role in the blend of the cigar, samples of which have a hearty, medium-plus bodied flavor with a very full draw and considerable punch. The smokes retail for $6.95 to $9.25 each and come in six sizes.
