Yesterday evening in New York, Karl Lagerfeld hosted a dinner in honor of Baz Luhrmann’s new movie for Chanel No . 5 featuring Gisele Bündchen. The film, which will be launched tomorrow, features Gisele surfing (on a Chanel surfboard, of course), that, according to Luhrmann, she's actually quite good at. "She knows how to surf. We simply put her on the board and she got up, " he informed the Cut (Gisele confirmed that she goes surfing "three or 4 times a year" in a "secret spot"). As Luhrmann tells it, the actual inspiration for the film comes from Gisele's own life: "Fragrance ads tend to be concerning the fantasy woman, " he explained. "Gisele is not a fantasy... She is the actual Chanel woman of today, and what we tried to do was bring a grounded reality a little bit more into the aspirational idea. " To celebrate the film's launch, Gisele, Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid, and Crystal Renn showed up in Chanel, together with Lily Allen, Caroline de Maigret, Poppy Delevingne, and both Brant siblings.
