Radar makes landing birds look like a magic thunderstorm

Did that passing raincloud just spontaneously disappear into the aether? Not exactly: the National Weather Service's New York City bureau just tweeted a fantastic radar loop of what it looks like to a doppler system when a flock of birds lands. Solid objects in the radar's path return a signal just as a storm would; when you get a bunch of birds in close proximity that all decide to hit the deck, it does strange things to the weather map.
