Arizona Coyotes hire new CFO

A former executive for the Portland Trail Blazers and Cleveland Indians is taking over as CFO of the Arizona Coyotes.

Gregg Olson joins the hockey frm SMG, a stadium and arena management firm where he served as regional vice president.

Olson replaces Avik Dey as Coyotes CFO.

Dey is a Coyotes co-owner and part of the group of Canadian and American oil men and business executives who bought the team from the National Hockey League last summer.

Dey has taken a job in Toronto with the Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board.Olson served as CFO of the Trail Blazers basketball team and for the NHL's San Jose Sharks. He also was finance director for the Cleveland Indians baseball team.

He was based out of SMG’s New Orleans offices. The company managed the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, Chicago’s Soldier Field and number of large convention centers and arenas.
