Elmer J. Levin | Obituary

Elmer J. Levin, 94, of East Carondelet, died Aug. 26, 2014 in Glen Carbon.

He was born April 30, 1920 in Sugarloaf, son of the late Alfonce and Isabell Levin, nee Chattilion.

Mr. Levin was a local farmer.  He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Columbia, IL. and the St. Clair County Farm Bureau.

He was preceded in death by his wife, whom he married on May 8, 1941, Frieda Irene Levin, nee Gordon; his parents, Alfonce and Isabell; two brothers, Edward and Ernest Levin; and four sisters, LaVerne Cobb, Margaret Hueseman, Dorothy Notz, and Henrietta Ricketts.

Surviving are his two sons, David Levin of St. Charles, Mo. and Dennis Levin of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Edgar Levin of Paducah, Ky.; five grandchildren, Chistine (Chris) Hawk, Jodee Levin, Katie (Dan) Wagner, Reonna (John) Faller, and Denina (Aric) Journot; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m Aug. 29 at Braun Family Funeral Home in Columbia and from 9 to 10 a.m. Aug. 30 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Columbia.

Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. at the church.

Interment will take place at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Columbia.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 227 North  Goodhaven Rd. in Columbia.
