In the good ol' U.S. of A., water fountains with the vertical spout to fill a water bottle are pretty much the most exciting variety you can find. Leave it to Europe to totally one-up us not once, but twice, when it comes to the free beverage game.

Paris has been installing sparkling water fountains around the city since 2010, and recently expanded the program so that all 20 of the city's districts will soon have one. Over in Italy, there's something even better — a fountain that dispenses glorious red wine, 24/7. For free. No tricks.

This wonderful gift comes from the Dora Sarchese Vineyard and a non-profit organization called The Way of St. Thomas.

The fountain is located in Ortona, Italy, at the end of a pilgrimage trail called the "Cammino di San Tommaso." Dedicated Catholics walk a 194-mile path to honor St. Thomas the Apostle, one of Jesus' disciples, whose relics remain in Ortona. As a reward for completing the pilgrimage, the non-profit erected a fountain to celebrate the way Jesus would want us to — by turning water into wine.

Located inside a giant "wine cask" at the vineyard, the fountain can be accessed by anyone, regardless of whether you actually make the cross-country trek from Rome to Ortona. The vineyard did say on their Facebook page that the fountain is not for "drunkards or louts," The Local reports, so keep it cool while you're there.

Once you're at the vineyard, you can also take a tour of the vineyard's wine cellar or do a proper tasting.

When it opened last fall, this fountain became the first of its kind to be accessible all day, every day. Shout out to Italy for making dreams come true.
