25 Dogs Who Went The Extra (Messy) Mile For The Love Of Peanut Butter

Dogs put all of their dignity on the line for the sake of PB, and we are impressed.

Peanut butter is one of the world's most wonderful foods. Its delectable nuttiness lingers long after you take your first taste. No one knows this truth better than dogs do. Dogs, more so than any human peanut butter devotee, appreciate the food for its simplicity. And they're willing to work for it.

Dogs may be at a disadvantage for consuming peanut butter (without opposable thumbs, it is not easy to screw open a jar), but they are resilient. With unrelenting tongues and razor-sharp determination, dogs put all of their dignity on the line for the sake of the nut butter. With our own sticky fingers, we applaud them:

They may not be able to craft a sandwich, but dogs know there's nothing wrong with eating PB straight from a spoon.

Really, what more does the nutty spread need?

Nothing.

The answer is nothing.

Its pure, remarkable flavor needn't be tainted by garish jellies meant to complement.

Just a spoon and some PB. That's all it takes to make a happy dog.

Mmm, yep. Could (and would) spend all day eating peanut butter straight from a spoon.

Sometimes a spoon isn't even necessary, see?

All that's required is some heartfelt licking. It's hard not to get emotional about the heavenliness of it all.

And it tastes all the sweeter (and saltier) when there's someone special who understands.

A shared love for peanut butter creates a beautiful bond.

One that makes you feel connected.

The licking may take a while, but it's never time wasted.

Peanut butter's savory richness outweighs societal pressures to be pretty.

What's really beautiful is abandoning vanity and self-consciousness for love.

Peanut butter is so superior, it can be served on a face instead of a plate.

Same goes for the nose.

Its inconceivable supremacy is immeasurable.

It is deserving of every last lick.

Oh, and humans like peanut butter, too. Here are some recipes to inspire, if you're not in the mood to eat the good stuff of of your nose:

Note: Peanut butter is safe for most dogs, but should be served in moderation. Be sure to check with your vet before making any changes to your pet's diet. It is not recommended to serve peanut butter on a spoon, as your dog could get excited and swallow it.
