But what about the other defensive end spot? The one Justin Tuck used to play? Tuck is an Oakland Raider now, and the competition for the starting spot opposite Pierre-Paul is wide open. The candidates are veteran Mathias Kiwanuka, free-agent signee Robert Ayers and 2013 third-round pick Damontre Moore.

New York Giants see more focused Rueben Randle – ESPN

“Intelligence, he’s got that,” Giants wide receivers coach Sean Ryan said last week. “For me, the battle with him is consistency, and I think he’s addressed it in this offseason in the way he approaches his job. I’ve seen a difference in his seriousness towards his work. This spring, I thought he was locked in. I thought he did a good job learning the new offense. Like I said, he’s got some football intelligence to him. Things come to him. He sees things pretty well. But I thought he really worked hard at being locked into the meetings and on the field as well. I noticed a difference in him.”

Eagles Hopeful Safety In Solid Shape
It isn’t like the Eagles have ignored the deep secondary for all of these years. They’ve used high draft picks. They’ve added pieces in free agency. They’ve mixed and matched and paired player combinations. And yet the safety spots have largely been patchwork, although to be fair it’s worth noting that Nate Allen has started 54 games in four seasons, lending some stability to the position. Otherwise, the names have come and gone.

Five Things To Watch: Games 1-4
When the 2014 NFL schedule was released in April, many Eagles fans were excited to see the Jaguars as the first opponent to come to Lincoln Financial Field, feeling like it would be a great opportunity for the Eagles to get things started on the right foot. It’s hard to fault fans for thinking that way, as Jacksonville hasn’t finished a season with a winning record since 2007. Head coach Gus Bradley’s team won just four games in 2013, but all four wins came in the second half of the season, which included a three-game winning streak.

Chip Kelly not like Fred Flintstone – NFC East Blog – ESPN
“I mean, I’ll go home and see my family and spend some time with them, but I mean, I don’t look at this as I need a break from what we’ve just done,” Kelly told reporters. “I mean, this is our life choice and we enjoy it, so it’s not like I can’t wait for — this isn’t like Fred Flintstone with the Yabba Dabba Doo and we’re trying to get out of work. It’s another day, and we’ll finish up with some different things before we get some time off. But I think anybody that’s in our situation that coaches isn’t like, I can’t wait to get out of there. I think most of them can’t wait to get back in there.”

Issues raised by Lane Johnson PED report – NFC East Blog – ESPN

Was that physical transformation natural or the result of performance-enhancing drugs? This is more than a theoretical matter for the Eagles. They drafted Johnson based on his size and his physical skills. At the scouting combine last year, Johnson ran a 4.75-yard 40-yard dash, an excellent time for a man of his size. The Eagles drafted him fourth, which meant a contract worth almost $20 million, including a signing bonus of $12 million.
