External storage for the Xbox One is still on its way, confirmed Xbox’s Director of Programming, Larry Hyrb, who is commonly known by his moniker, Major Nelson. This information was revealed in a subreddit thread about the Xbox One where Hyrb was responding to questions and comments from users. Major Nelson said that the update to allow for external storage is “coming soon” and that “media support” still needs to be checked on. Xbox One users will surely welcome this news, as the standard 500 GB drive included with the console is quickly filling up with the push toward fully downloadable retail games.

It is worth noting that this internal hard drive cannot be removed or upgraded by the user. Any additional storage space must be external via USB port.
