Gradient Studies

Digital Art
Illustrator
For one month I was experimenting with a range of gradient-related techniques which I cover in my course Mastering Gradients in Illustrator. The challenge for this project was to only use the gradient and colour tools covered in this class and create work purely in Adobe Illustrator.

As I am really into geometry and reasonably minimalistic designs, most of what I've done with the gradients reflect it, and there's quite a bit of the organic and celestial themes here too. Most of these experiments took between 30 minutes and 1 hour from concept to export. The longest I spent was about 1.5 hours when I got carried away working on the design #16 and recording a screencast of the process which you can watch below condensed into 2.5 minutes time-lapse.

NEW: Be sure to check out the continuation of this series in the Gradient Studies: Encore project and another set dedicated to exploration of metallic gradients Gradient Studies II: Metallics!
All of these experiments are included in my Skillshare project along with the brief descriptions of the techniques used in each design.

I've been posting these experiments daily on Instagram and Dribbble, and now I'm going to move on to the next everyday challenge, so follow along;)
Learn to unlock the full potential of Adobe Illustrator's tools for creating gradient designs with my special tips, tricks & techniques ranging from beginner to advanced levels in my course Mastering Gradients in Adobe Illustrator: available on Teachable with a one-off enrolment fee for lifetime access & on Skillshare with an active annual membership subscription.

A few of these designs are available as a range of products in our Society6 store, and if you want to purchase what isn't in the store yet, don't hesitate to let us know and we'll put it up there for you:)
