Beach Named to The Bowerman Watch List

NEW ORLEANS -- Redshirt senior Curtis Beach was named to the April edition of the Men's Watch List for The Bowerman, collegiate track and field's highest individual honor, as announced by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Wednesday. Beach's appearance on the watch list is the ninth of his career and second this season.

Beach was named to the watch list earlier in the season after returning to his hometown of Albuquerque, N.M., to win the 2014 NCAA Indoor Championships heptathlon in exciting fashion. Beach amassed a conference, school and personal-best point total of 6,190 while outscoring the second-place finisher by over 150 points. Beach's score ranks as the fourth-best in collegiate history.

Beach, who has seen limited action during the outdoor season, contributed in setting a school record in the 4x400 earlier this season, clocking an anchor time of 46.12. The relay finished in a time of 3:11.74, winning the event at the VertKlasse Meeting in High Point, N.C.

Beach and the Duke track and field team are primed for a strong showing at the 2014 ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, scheduled for Thursday, Apr. 17 through Saturday, Apr. 19 in Chapel Hill, N.C.
