McCloud and his family enjoy Florida on Saturday

Florida hosted over a dozen prospects on Saturday for the spring game and running back Ray-Ray McCloud (5-10, 180, Tampa, FL Sickles) was on hand for his third visit of the spring.

Saturday’s visit for McCloud was different though as this time his mother came along to see Florida for the first time and she liked what she saw from the Gators.

“The visit was good,” McCloud said. “I got to watch the game, talk to the coaches and let everyone meet my mom. This was her first time to visit Florida and she liked it but she didn’t get to see the academics so I’m going to bring her back so she can see that. But she loved everything she got to see and she liked the coaches there.”

Saturday was also McCloud’s first time to see Florida’s offense in a scrimmage format and he liked what he saw from Kurt Roper’s offense.

“The offense was great and different than in the past,” McCloud said. “They had a good day and the quarterbacks did a lot of good things. I really liked the way they used the running backs and afterwards they were telling me that I could fit into the offense well and that they could use me at running back and also let me split out wide some.”

After the Tampa running back got through watching the Orange and Blue game he had the chance to talk with running backs coach Brian White.

“Coach White and I are just building a relationship, we have been talking with each other for a while,” McCloud said. “He was telling me about where I would fit in at and he was saying we can do this with you and that with you. He was also talking to my parents a lot too.”

When McCloud was finished talking with White he and his parents moved over to Will Muschamp’s offense where the head coach had a message for the running back.

“Coach Muschamp and I had a good talk as well, he’s just trying to build a better relationship with me,” McCloud said. “He was talking to my parents about academics and how Florida is a good fit for me. He was telling me that I’m a high priority for him this year.”

Despite taking his third visit to Florida this spring the Sickles High prospect says that he’s still open in his recruitment and there are a few schools he wants to see before making a decision.

“I’m still wide open right now,” McCloud said. “I plan to go to Auburn this week and I want to see UCLA, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Ole Miss this summer. After that I’ll make a decision whenever I feel right.”
