The Angels traded Mike Scioscia’s son Matt, a Class-A first baseman, to the Chicago Cubs for Trevor Gretzky, the son of hockey great Wayne Gretzky. The younger Gretzky is an outfielder who played at Class-A last season.

Matt Scioscia has a career .222 average in parts of three minor league seasons. Trevor Gretzky, 21, has a .288 average in two seasons. He was a seventh-round pick in 2011.

“He’s a long, lean lefty with a good swing,” Dipoto said. “He’ll have an opportunity to show us what he can do.”
