Rockstar's 2004 hit game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas arrives on mobile devices today, starting with iOS. The universal app is Rockstar's latest GTA for mobile, and supports Made-for-iOS game controllers. Those are the new, and slowly growing crop of controllers that latch onto iPhones, iPods, and iPads, and offer traditional buttons and gamepads instead of requiring users to tap on screen buttons. Of course, they could still get violently thrown across the room during the game's infamously twitchy and difficult missions.

Arrives a year after 'Vice City'

The game is slowly rolling out across the world, and is expected to carry a $6.99 price tag in the US when it hits at 11PM Eastern. It comes a year after the company ported 2002's GTA: Vice City. According to the release notes, it weighs in at 1.63GB, features remastered graphics, and has cloud save to sync progress between devices. Rockstar originally announced its plans to bring the port over to mobile devices last month, saying it would be "the best-looking version of San Andreas yet." The game is also headed to Android and Windows Phone, though Rockstar hasn't specified exact dates.
