Two young Angels infielders and a pitching prospect will play in front of a national audience on Saturday, as C.J. Cron, Taylor Lindsey and Cam Bedrosian were named Arizona Fall League All-Stars on Monday.
Cron, a first baseman and 2011 first-rounder, is hitting .385 with three homers and 9 RBI in 10 AFL games for the Mesa Solar Sox. He spent all of 2013 with the Angels’ Double-A affiliate, the Arkansas Travelers, where he was joined by Lindsey.
A 21-year-old second baseman drafted in the first round in 2010, Lindsey is hitting .279 with four extra-base hits in 10 AFL games. He hit .274 with 17 homers, 22 doubles and six triples in 134 regular-season contests this season, outpowering Cron, who hit 14 long balls.
Bedrosian, a Tommy John surgery survivor, has a 5.79 ERA in 4 2/3 relief innings but seven strikeouts and just one walk. He had a 4.57 ERA in 63 innings this season, at the Low-A and High-A levels.
Cron, Lindsey and Bedrosian are typically ranked among the Angels’ top five prospects, but they rarely crack league-wide top-100 lists.
On the East Division team, they will be playing alongside top MLB prospects Kris Bryant of the Cubs and Addison Russell of the A’s.
The game will be broadcast on MLB Network at 4 p.m. PT Saturday.
