PRINCE ALBERT CONSTRUCTION ASSOCIATION GOLF TOURNAMENT CELEBRATES 30 YEARS!
In 1990, a grand tradition started in Prince Albert: the now-famous PA Construction Association Annual Golf Tournament. Widely regarded as the funnest golf event of the year, it’s an afternoon and evening where industry professionals from around the province network in a casual and sometimes hilarious atmosphere.
The golf tournament was first started by Barry Headrick of Tip Top Decorators and Brian Simpson of RNF Ventures . Bill Thorpe ( Thorpe Brothers Plumbing and Heating ) and Ken Burkosky ( B&B Asphalt ) were also key to the organizing committee that got the event off the ground. The first year’s event hosted about 60 golfers.
The popularity of the event grew over the years, aided in large part by the hospitality of the PA contractors group. By 2006 when Kelly Miller and Allan Webb of RNF Ventures took over the planning, they had reached about 100 golfers.

With consistent promotion, great activities, and a beautiful course (the event has been at Cooke Municipal Golf Course every year) popularity has continued to grow. The past 3 years the event has been sold out with people travelling from all over Saskatchewan to participate. The 2019 tournament was another resounding success, thanks to the PACA organizing committee.
The tournament is one of the main sources of revenue to sustain annual operations of the PACA. However, they also incorporate fund raising for other causes such as the junior golf club, the food bank, and this year support for a study on the effects of the PST on construction.
Congratulations to the PACA and the many Merit members that have made this event such a success for the past 30 years.
