Albert Pujols, who is expected to take off his Angels uniform for the final time this season on Wednesday, said he’s feeling “really good” and ready to have a normal winter of conditioning.

Pujols, who has been out for nearly two months because of a torn plantar fascia, has not been traveling with the team, so he is expected to head into his winter when the Angels begin their final series of the season on the road on Thursday.

And he’s expecting it to be a winter like any other. He will begin his conditioning in November and start hitting in January.

“As of right now, I feel pretty good about how everything is going,” Pujols.

Pujols, 33, endured the worst season of his career in 2013, as he was slowed by plantar fasciitis and a sore knee. He played through the pain until he tore the tissue in late July. The good news is that the tear relieved the stress on the tissue, so he will not need surgery this winter.

“We were going to take care of it early in the offseason and now it took care of itself,” Pujols said.

Pujols said he didn’t plan to do anything different this winter from any of his other healthy offseasons.

“I am going to spring traning the same way I have in the 14 years I have been a professional,” he said. “Why should I change something that has been working?”
