Offices Closed for Presidents' Day: February 18

All Williamson County offices will be closed on Monday, February 18, 2019, in observance of Presidents’ Day. County operations will resume regular hours on Tuesday, February 19, 2019.

Name Your Price Adoptions to bring home your Paw-mander in Chief!

This Presidents' Day, bring home the newest member of your Executive Cabinet! From Presidents' Day until the end of February, name your adoption fee when you adopt a dog or cat who is 7 months or older! Puppies and kittens are $75 to adopt. Plus, if you are 55+ and you are adopting a dog or cat who is 5+, then the adoption fee is always free to a loving home! The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter will be will be open from noon to 6 p.m. on Presidents' Day, Monday, February 18. Safe Baby Academy: February 16 & February 24

This month, there are two opportunities to take the Safe Baby Academy. This popular session helps parents learn about car seat safety, infant CPR, home and water safety, and safe sleeping practices. Williamson County Emergency Services in conjunction with Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services will be offering a Safe Baby Academy on Saturday, February 16, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Williamson County EMS North Campus, located at 3189 SE Inner Loop in Georgetown. Stop the Bleed / TAKE10 Training - February 16

Williamson County EMS and St. David’s are offering a Stop The Bleed / TAKE10 course on Saturday, February 16. The class begins at 9:30 a.m. and concludes at 12 p.m. at the St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, located at 2400 Round Rock Avenue. TAKE10 is a compression-only CPR program that focuses on the critical actions needed to potentially save the life of a cardiac arrest victim. The Stop The Bleed course teaches how to control life-threatening bleeding including tourniquet application, applying direct pressure and wound packing to assist someone in need. Both classes are included in one session. This course is open to the community and is appropriate for ages 12 and older with an adult present. Elections Department offering Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrar Training Class: February 16

The Elections Office will be conducting a Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrar training session on Saturday, February 16, at 10 a.m. at the Elections Office in Georgetown (301 SE Inner Loop, Ste 104). Space is limited, so email teamtraining@wilco.org or call 512-943-1629 to reserve a spot.

Go Fast Races Barrel Race - February 16: Go Fast Races is back with another big event! Entry Office opens at 7:00 a.m., with off stake exhibition following at 7:30 a.m., and morning slack at 9:00 a.m. 5D Open evening race begins at 7:00 p.m. There is no admission cost for spectators, and the concession stand will be open! Go Fast Races Jackpot Junky Barrel Race - February 21: Weeknight Jackpots are for the Go Fast Junkie Racer that wants more than the weekend experience and an opportunity to work horses during the week! The arena will open at 5:00 p.m. with exhibitions between 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The race starts at 7:00 p.m. Spectator admission and parking are free. City-Wide Garage Sale - February 23-24: Come to the Williamson County Expo Center and rummage through vendor's hard-to-find goods and unusual vintage relics from times past. The Garage Sale runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $5, and kids under 12 are free. Open Arena Ride Time - February 26: The Williamson County Expo Center is offering an opportunity for riders of all disciplines to enjoy the amenities the Williamson County Expo has to offer. To participate in an Open Arena Ride Time, riders must sign a 2019 Horse Riding General Liability Release form (you can find it here), Coggins paperwork for each horse, and purchase a wristband for $20 CASH. Riders must be respectful and courteous to other riders sharing the arena. Riders will have access to the Main Arena, Covered Warm-Up Arena, and Outdoor Arena. Barrels, poles, jumps or any other obstacles are restricted during Open Arena Ride Time. Unattended and loose horses are prohibited. February Art Exhibit: Special Corners of Ukraine by Raquel Davidowitz. This exhibit features the emotionally moving photographs Raquel Davidowitz captured during her travels to the Ukraine.

Historic Courthouse Tours - February 15, 16, 22, 23: Meet at the Museum for 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. guided tours. Tours are free, last about 45 minutes and are handicapped accessible. Call 512-943-1670 to request a tour for parties of seven or more.

The 1872 Wedding of Joseph Davis and Jenny Dyer - February 16: Celebrate with The Williamson Museum On The Chisholm Trail by attending an 1872 wedding! Step back in time and become a wedding guest at a Swedish wedding in Round Rock, which includes the wedding, reception and dinner. Catch up with Round Rock locals about the wedding traditions of the Victorian age, local news, and salacious gossip. The event will take place at the Chisholm Trial location, at 8 Chisholm Trial in Round Rock, and will last from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person, $20 for Museum members. February Family-Friendly Craft Activities at The Williamson Museum on the Chisholm Trail in Round Rock: Join the Museum located at 8 Chisholm Trail Road in Round Rock for crafts every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in February! This month's theme is love:

  • February 16: Tussie Mussie - Create a small bouquet of flowers from Victorian Times named a “Tussie-Mussie”. Explore the language of flowers and a new way to express love.
  • February 23: Love Tree - Express your gratitude for your loved ones by making a love tree!

Earth, Water, Sky: Plein Air Round Rock - Artists Reception - February 21: Once a month, this group of artists meet at locations in and around Williamson county to paint the beauty of our Texas landscape and architecture. Join this creative group for an Artists Reception from 4:30 p.m to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, at The Williamson Museum on the Chisholm Trail located at 8 Chisholm Trail in Round Rock. This event is free and open to the public!

Cowboys & Politics: The Special Election of 1937 & Stories of Cowboys in Williamson County - February 21: Join the Williamson Museum and the Williamson County Historical Commission for this informative fundraiser benefiting the Historical Commission. Stephen Benold, M.D. and Judge Billy Ray Stubblefield will lead the presentation. Private Pesticide Applicator Training - February 19: Sign up for Private Applicator Training, which will be from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m at the new Williamson County Extension Office Training Room located at 100 Wilco Way, Suite AG201, in Georgetown. Last Chance CEU Program for Agriculture Education Credits - February 20: Here’s your chance to get up to 3 CEUs! Dicamba, 2, 4 D, Worker Protection Training - February 21: Williamson County AgriLife Extension will be holding the REQUIRED worker protection safety, dicamba and 2, 4 d training for those individuals looking to obtain these certifications. Any individuals who will be working with these chemicals are required to attend. Those individuals who do not have a private applicator license but intend on getting one can attend this program to receive certification. This program will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Williamson County Grain Training Room, located at 504 E. M.L.K. Jr. Blvd in Taylor. Williamson County Master Gardeners Association, "Hands on in the Garden" Preparing Garden Soil for Planting with Master Gardener Jim Williams - February 23: On Saturday, February 23rd, the topic for “Hands on in the Garden” is learning how to prepare garden soil for planting with Master Gardener Jim Williams. The program will be held at the Texas A&M AgriLife Training Room located at 3151 SE Inner Loop in Georgetown, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. “Hands on in the Garden” is free and open to the public. Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for Vegetable Pests by Wizzie Brown, Extension Program Specialists - March 11: The presentation will cover basic IPM concepts that can be applied to reduce pest outbreaks. We will also cover how to identify various pests and how to mange them.
