PUNE: There will be subdued rainfall activity for at least two days in most parts of the state, barring some areas like the Konkan, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday. “Weather conditions are likely to remain the same. No major boost in rainfall is expected in the state over the next 48 hours,” said Medha Khole, director (weather forecasting), IMD.

Asked if many places were experiencing dry spells she said, “Areas where the monsoon has progressed have been recording some rain. Though the monsoon current is not very strong, rainfall is taking place. On Tuesday, for example, central India recorded a considerable amount of rain.”
According to IMD’s weather report, systems conducive to rain have been comparatively weak in the area around Mumbai and Pune.” The feeble off-shore trough at mean sea level from the south Maharashtra coast to Kerala has become less marked,” it said.
Although the city did not get rain on Tuesday, showers can be expected on Wednesday. “One or two spells of rain or thundershowers would occur,” the report stated. Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely to occur in Assam, Meghalaya, Konkan, Goa and Coastal Karnataka in the next 48 hours.
In Delhi, the weather is expected to witness some changes in the next couple of days, and cloudy conditions are likely. “Mainly clear sky with dust haze will prevail on Wednesday, while on Thursday, a partly cloudy sky and thundery development is expected,” the weather report said.
The monsoon did not make any progress on Tuesday. It has been stagnant for four days now, said the IMD.
