Make a DIY Lunchbox Freezer Pack for Cheap and Custom-Sized Cooling

Freezer packs are mighty expensive for what they are—plastic bags with some blue sludge inside. This simple guide will show you how to make your own freezer packs in whatever shape, volume, and color you want.

Over at the kitchen and culinary-centric blog The Kitchn they've put together a tutorial on how to make your own freezer packs. We've previously shared a tip on how to make your own packs, but The Kitchn guide goes into more detail and certainly beats us in the step-by-step photo department.

You'll need heavy-duty freezer bags—vacuum sealed bags would be even better if you have the luxury of a vacuum sealer in your kitchen—some dish soap, an empty jar or wide mouth container, and if you want some fancy-pants color in your pack you'll need some bottles of food coloring. Check out the full guide at the link below to see the step-by-step photo guide. Have a clever and money-saving tip for the kitchen? Let's hear about it in the comments.
