About the role

Apply for job

The Medical Protection Society Limited (“MPS”) is the world’s leading protection organisation for doctors, dentists and healthcare professionals. We protect and support the professional interests of more than 300,000 members around the world. Membership provides access to expert advice and support together with the right to request indemnity for any complaints or claims arising from professional practice.

Our in-house experts assist with the wide range of legal and ethical problems that arise from professional practice. This can include clinical negligence claims, complaints, medical and dental council inquiries, legal and ethical dilemmas, disciplinary procedures, inquests and fatal accident inquiries.

As a Case Handler you will work closely with either Medicolegal or Dentolegal Consultants to act as the first point of contact for all new requests for assistance from our members on the telephone, and either handle the request personally, or assess, understand and triage the request to a specialist.

You will be responsible for managing your own caseload, under the supervision of a Medicolegal/Dentolegal Consultant, by telephone or in written correspondence, providing a timely and effective service to our members.

You will possess high quality oral and written communication skills, coupled with the ability to display tact and discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential information. IT literate with the ability to learn new in-house systems quickly, along with excellent knowledge of Windows suite software is also required.

Knowledge of professional regulatory frameworks and medical/dental terminology would be a distinct advantage but is not essential.

In return, we offer a great working environment in conveniently located offices in the City Centre. We offer an exceptional benefits package, including a 12% pension scheme, 25 days paid holiday (in addition to public holidays), private medical insurance and a health care cash plan, car allowance, childcare vouchers and an annual bonus scheme.

Salary: £25,000 - £31,500.
