8 outdated items that really should make a comeback

If you live for collecting all things vintage, then 'outdated' is a word that's not in your vocabulary. Here are a few once-common items that are no longer seen in the average home. What would you like to bring back?
Traditional alarm clocks
Everyone has gone digital, but having a pretty alarm clock parked on the bedside table is somehow more reassuring than having a glowing LED display in your line of sight.
Rotary phones
Sure, it's a pain to dial any 0800 number, but it's so satisfying to hang up the heavy receiver. And smartphones just don't jazz up a hallway table like these retro beauties.
Clothes/washing lines
Although washing lines are still used, it's not as popular as it used to be. Nowadays, many of us rely on tumble dryers to dry our clothes quickly but there is truly nothing like the fresh scent of line-dried laundry.

Typewriters
Typewriters are the ultimate in distraction-free writing. Plus, coffee shops could once again be places for conversation and relaxation — you'd never be tempted to haul your typewriter there and camp out with work.
Personalised stationery
It seems that the art of letter writing, sending paper invitations and thank-you notes is long gone. Sadly, all that most letterboxes receive these days is bills and junk mail.

Sweet bowl
These gorgeous glass or crystal bowls were a fixture of our grandmother's living room, but have sadly disappeared (along with the butterscotch and strawberry sweets).

Treat tins
Biscuits, sweets, and teas were often packaged in tins that looked pretty enough to keep on display after the biscuits were gone.
Sewing kits
It's not like we no longer wear clothes - which actually seem to fall apart faster than their vintage predecessors. But no one wields a thimble quite like they did decades ago.
