BRAMPTON, Ont. - A Peel police officer has been arrested and charged after a fraud investigation into allegedly staged car collisions.

Police investigated a series of crashes that occurred last year.

They say the collisions were fake, and were followed by insurance claims for the damaged cars and for injuries caused by the impact.

Police allege that an officer in Brampton, Ont., helped report the accidents as legitimate crashes.

Const. Carlton Watson is charged with uttering a fraudulent document, obstructing justice and breach of trust.

Also arrested in the case is Wayne Isaacs, 46, of Brampton, who is charged with defrauding the public.
