A officer with the RCMP's organized crime squad in B.C. has been charged for allegedly stealing $400 from a casino south of Vancouver.
Police were called to a theft at the River Rock Casino, in Richmond, B.C., last December after a man snatched a $400 ticket left behind at a slot machine and cashed it out, Cpl. Annie Linteau said in a release Tuesday.
Const. Nick Sharma was later charged with theft under $5,000.
Sharma was off duty at the time of the incident, Linteau said.
She said Sharma would also face an internal RCMP investigation and has been assigned to desk duty until the investigations are resolved.
He is set to appear in provincial court on May 19.
