Five things to do in Las Cruces this weekend

Arts and Crafts Fair

St. Andrews’ Episcopal Church, 518 N. Alameda Blvd., is hosting a Christmas Arts and Craft Fair from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27. There will be a variety of handcrafted items perfect for holiday gifts. Lunch, including hot dogs, soup and homemade chili will be sold at the event. Info: 575-526-6333

Fright Night

The second annual Fright Night takes place Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Rio Grande Theatre, 211 N. Main St. The event will feature three classic Halloween movies: the family-friendly “Gremlins,” followed by the original “Ghostbusters” and ending with the cult classic “The Exorcist.” Admission is $8 for one movie, $14 for to, or $18 for all three. Doors open at 4 p.m., movies start at 5 p.m. Concessions served including snacks, refreshments, beer, wine and spirits. Info: riograndetheatre.org

Day of the Dead Bread

Just in time for Day of the Dead, the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum, 4100 Dripping Springs Road, will host Heritage Cooking: Day of the Dead Bread from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 27. Community members will get the opportunity to bake this festive, celebratory dessert bread in an 1890s vintage wood-burning cook stove. Visitors of all ages are welcome to join in the making of these classic loaves, which they can take home and share with friends and family. Complimentary copies of the traditional recipes will also be available, and supplies are furnished by the museum. To participate in this program, regular paid museum admission is required ($5 for adults, $4 for senior citizens, $3 for children 4-17). Info:nmfarmandranchmuseum.org

Pumpkin Festival

The New Mexico Pumpkin Festival takes place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Mesilla Valley Maze, 3855 W. Picacho Ave. The event will feature a wide range of food, attractions, contests and entertainment, including live music by the Cactus Chords, a pumpkin pie eating contest, hula hoop contest and more. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for children under 12 years of age and free for children under 2 years old. Info:mesillavalleymaze.com

Pits for Peace

Support local rescue animals at the seventh annual PITS for Peace event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28 at the Plaza de Las Cruces. All proceeds benefit ACTion Programs for Animals in its animal rescue efforts. This year, the peace walk returns and will start at approximately 1 p.m. and go around the downtown area. All well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome. There will also be vendors, raffle prizes, dog adoptions, pizza and a doggy Halloween costume contest. Microchipping and vaccinations will also be offered at the event. Free. Info: 575-644-0505
