Monsoon has officially started here in Pune and it being my favorite season, I am loving the weather here. Hope you guys have liked my Summer Look Book I recently wrapped up and its time for the first look from the monsoon series. The rainy season calls for light weight fabrics with quirky prints to lift up your spirits during the dull cloudy day. Make sure you use fabrics that get dry easily, are not see through and do not cling to your body. Materials like chiffon, nylon, cotton silk, crepe and lycra are the best for the rainy season.

My first look of the Monsoon look book series is a quirky owl top with ripped denim shorts, a cut-out pattern shrug and PU flats. This is my perfect look for a gloomy Sunday outing.

Monsoon friendly fabrics

Here I am wearing a cotton polyester top with owl print in a black shade which solves all my purpose for rains. Its dark colour so will not be see through when wet, its easy to dry, its quirky and bright, and its breathable and won’t stick to my skin.

Monsoon friendly Bottoms – Shorts

When talking about monsoon outfits its really important that you should wear short hem outfits that do not flutter flatter with wind. Since you would be crossing too many muddy puddles a short capri or denim shorts are great for wet season. You would be wondering why denims when its not the right choice of fabric for monsoon. Well these shorts are actually the chambray ones or the cotton denims as they are called lately. They get dry easily and since its a shorts its easy covered by a raincoat or an umbrella.

Monsoon Layering – Shrugs

Monsoon weather means weird atmosphere! One minute its hot and humid, next minute its drizzling and chilly. A trendy shrug thus will go a long way to protect you from cold and also look chic for monsoon. For my first look of monsoon, I have continued with my summer light weight layering considering the weather would be more chilly and there is just a drizzle of rain here and there these days. The shrug is airy, breathable yet keeps me warm.

Waterproof PU bag

One has to be really picky while choosing accessories for rainy season. Metal and silver based accessories are total no-no considering metal will readily oxidized in wet weather, also if you have curls like me, getting wet hair tangled in your metal accessories can be horrific. You can rather opt for some thread, plastic or wood based accessories. Here I have worn thread tassels in my ears and gladiator PU flat sandals complete my look. There are a lot of varieties available in in the market these days.

PU Flats

Even the handbags we used in monsoon have to be waterproof so that we can easily save our important stuff from getting soaked. I have used a fun elephant print PU leather sling bag from India Circus to go with this look.

Monsoon season Makeup

Makeup for rainy season has to be just like the name suggests, light and dewy. I for one do not prefer using any cream products during monsoon as they tend to get grimy and slicky in humid weather. Instead I use loose foundation or compact to just dabble on the face. A navy blue waterproof liner and a dewy pink lipstick completes my monsoon makeup in this look.
