As a former English as a Second Language teacher as well as a elementary school teacher I have the knowledge and ability to give you great children's stories.
Books like this need not only to expose children to vocabulary, but also to engage their interest. It is not easy to provide a sense of plot in such a short text, but it can be done. Here is my story based on the words provided. I'm a published writer and can offer you a quick turnaround and excellent use of vocabulary.
1. Jake the ape lived in the zoo by a lake.
2. His favorite game was to chase grapes across his cage.
3. He loved to eat cake baked with dates.
4. He would save the leftover cake on a plate.
5. One day Jake saw a plane land near his cage.
6. The plane was shaking and making noise.
7. Jake tried to open his gate to go near the plane.
8. He wanted to take the pilot some cake.
