Would a 'pocket office' work for you?

A growing trend in homes, these days, are "pocket offices" (so named because they often have a pocket door). The National Association of Home Builders says folks are asking for small spaces where they can bring work home, pay bills or handle other paperwork. The mini-offices include a built-in work surface, some storage, a spot for your computer and printer/fax/scanner and, ideally, a source for natural light and fresh air. In the past, many a guest bedroom included a closet modified for the above but now, with the current housing market, family members (out-of-school but jobless kids, parents) may be moving in, making that no longer an option. Ones planned for new homes are usually half the size of a room dedicated to a home office. Popular sites are kitchen or family rooms.
