Amore Sofia - A tale of my little Shih Tzu
Here is my little Sofia
Sofia is sweeter than pie and the apple of my eye. What makes Sofia so sweet is that she is so CUTE! Cuteness invites forgiveness…Sofia can get away with murder.
Sofia is eight years old and is a night owl. Yes, she still has her days and nights mixed up and prefer to sleep all day and party all night. That’s not a problem if everyone is on her schedule. It never fails, at 8:30 PM she hauls out all her toys and relentless is ready to play. She wants to throw the ball, wrestle with “bear hug”, her bunny, and play tag running up and down the stairs. She will play all night if you let her.Sleep is a problem. You can put her to bed, but she’ll get up during the night to drink water, go potty, and yes play with “bear hug.” At 4AM she is ready to settle down. Daylight… She will not get up and you literally have to “drag” her out of bed.
It’s OK though, because Sofia is so CUTE!
Sofia is a picky eater and prefers gourmet food. She loves hot dogs, ice cream, cookies, and whipped cream. But, give her anything nutritious and she will not eat. Even camouflaging her meals does not guarantee that she will eat her dinner. You can threaten her, trick her, and yes even starve her, and she will hold out until she gets what she wants. And Sofia gets what she wants.
It’s OK though, because Sofia is so CUTE!
Sofia hates to walk. She loves going outside, but hates walking. She’ll stop and no amount of encouragement will budge her. And if she discovers an interesting twig, leave, or pinecone, her curiosity gets the best of her. She will sit for hours and want to play with it or carry them home. No amount of encouragement will get her going and you end up carrying her. Yes Sofia has been carried for miles because she refused to walk.
It’s OK though, because Sofia is so CUTE!
Sofia hates anything to do with hygiene. When she hears water running, she runs and hides in her room. Haircuts have her shaking in her “boots”. You might as well forget about brushing her teeth and combing her hair. It’s frustrating because she is attracted to mud and rolling in it is heavenly for her.
It’s OK though, because Sofia is so CUTE!
Sofia, because of her cuteness can get away with staying up all night, having special meals prepared, carried for miles, and “smelling up the house”. She’s a cuddly, little Shih Tzu. And her quirky habits are tolerated.
It’s OK though, because Sofia is so CUTE!
Now, if my kids pulled any of these antics…it’s in the doghouse for them.
