Two-Headed Cattle
Pictures from my Collection (1900-1950)
It might be a strange thing to collect, but many pictures are available of two-headed calves and cattle. These animals were attractive sideshow and exhibit animals either live or preserved and also of interest to the media,
1922
This unusual full-grown example was on display a the White City Amusement Park in 1922. It was born on a farm in Mills Creek, Oklahoma. General to survive into adulthood an animal of this type will require extra care and support.
1931
This taxidermy specimen is from Maquoketa, Iowa.
It was born in 1931 and displayed in the Sagers Museum.
From the same year the living calf below was owned by Manuel Sequeira
1941
A cow is displayed with a taxidermy calf specimen. You can read more about Spotty and her calf here.
1944
An unusual full grown bull. See more about Andy D-Day here.
1958
This calf shown below was born on the Kenneth Douglas farm in Champaign, Illinois in June of 1958.
The calf was born by Caesarian and was not able to stand at the time that the picture was taken.

The taxidermy calf on the left(above) looks a little suspicious to me. This would be a rather unusual conformation. My best guess is that it is a fake, or has been positioned in a rather misleading way.

Two-headed calves seem to present an irresistible subject for taxidermists. Here are just a few institutions that possess preserved specimens (pictures available at the linked sites):
