I'm rather surprised to find that I had not yet rated the Cordova Library. I thought I already had.
While serving in the Army I traveled a lot and lived all over the country. I have been in a lot of libraries and seen some good ones and some bad ones. There are a lot of different things to take into consideration, condition of the books and periodicals, availability of materials, overall cleanliness and of course the knowledge and helpfulness of the staff. It is here where I will concentrate as in most libraries the staff can make a huge difference.
The staff here is extremely friendly and helpful. As I am experienced with libraries I personally do not need a lot of help, however, I pay attention to the staff when they are helping other people. They are always very courteous and more than willing to help. It seems like they are willing to go out of there way to help those that need it and actually seem to thrive on it. Good for you.
The library is smaller than some I have seen and therefor does not have as much as some of the larger ones across the country, but they do what they can with what they have and do a great job with it.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Dyann C.Memphis, TN77615Apr 21, 2017
I love the library - far to long since I have been here. I tried using the computer to locate the book I need for Book Club and needed a PIN number. This was New for me, but probably has been in place for some time.
I immediately went to the information desk and was pleasingly surprised how helpful and accommodating the beautiful young lady was. I wish I had asked her name.
She updated all my info and when I asked about the book I needed SHE went to the shelf to get it for me. Upon returning, she checked her computer to see it was returned last night. She went to the back to find it for me. I was thrilled to see her bringing it to me as I have six days to complete reading it.
By far the best customer service I have experienced in a long time!!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - christina g.Yelm, WA1838740Apr 30, 2012
My kids love it here. It's a great way to get them out of the house and show them some fun for FREE. They have a good children's books area with little tables and chairs and also cute little shopping carts so kids can "Shop" for their favorite books. The staff is really friendly and I'm not sure why but they have a roaming security guard in the building that is really nice too.
They have story time for the kids every Thursday morning where kids are read a story and then they do activities afterwards.
The library also holds a lot of free events open to the public and best of all, it's right next door to the Cordova Community Center and Bert Furgeson Park so after the kids burn off some energy at the park, they can go to the library and relax in the air condition as they read a book and unwind.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Don C.Cordova, TN3103293287Apr 23, 2017
Very nice library with a wide selection of books, music cds and videos. The staff here is pleasant and ready to help. A lady at the information desk went so far as to search for my wife's desired book and retrieve it from the most recent returns.

Visited library yesturday to some reading for school using the wifi in the library. It was easy to connect to and the library was very quiet. There are plenty of places to setup a labtop for some homework. Ill be going back for sure.

This is a very nice library. Nice setting. Ample seating for studying, and reading. However they do not understand the concept of a quiet library! While I was trying to study the librarians made several announcements over the LOUD speaker over the course of 30 minutes that story time was beginning soon and "Please join us for story hour!" When story hour was about to begin at 11:00am, my, did it get loud! The woman was announcing, now in person, loudly for the kids to gather chairs and come in. Then music started playing in the story room. I think it is wonderful that this library has these programs, but I have to say, I'm shocked with how loud they run things here. I have been to libraries where the librarian will quietly ask grown people (me) to keep it down if they dare hold a conversation above a whisper in the library. Haha. I think that's a bit extreme... But there was once a rule that libraries must be a quiet place for those studying not to be disturbed. This is more like a Barnes and Noble without the coffee. That being said, I will likely return to use their study areas. It is conveniently located and quieter than Starbucks.

Love there books on AUDIO selections. The info desk is very helpful if you are having a hard time finding what your looking for, and have even gone as far as looking at other Library locations for me and having them send the books over in just a few days for me to pick up. How cool is that. Road Warriors need these great books on audio, and this is the place to get them.

Excellent staff, facility. Only problem is the upper management of the Memphis Library System that does not provide for adequate selection and has poor customer policies (7 day checkout, who are they kidding?). Upper management is simply not Library oriented, but this facility itself is the best of the Memphis branches. Super staff, always helpful.
