Presentation, they say, is everything. Take a painting, put it in a gilded frame, and you've upped the glamour quotient. Consider how the Japanese make an art of exquisite food presentation. Even the most ordinary objects take on some importance with clever display.
There's nothing like a lift to display an object. Think of a vase on a stand. Now think how you can make this work in your garden. Bases, pedestals and columns are all dandy items for displaying your favorite objects.
But don't despair if you don't have a couple of Greek columns lying around. A stand doesn't need to be particularly elegant. Flat stones, wood blocks, footstools, overturned pots and even tree stumps can be turned into bases for plants or ornaments.
A little elevation can make a plain object look more important and a small object stand out. Call it pedestal power.
