Dog Show In Novi A Huge Draw

The Michigan Winter Dog Classic is being held at the former Rock Financial Showplace in Novi Sunday, with over 10,000 people in attendance.

WWJ's Beth Fisher reports that Jon Provost from original Lassie TV series was on hand, "So many people have come up and said that the reason they have dogs or the reason they have a collie is because they grew up watching Timmy and Lassie. That's a great feeling."

"The dog show features every dog breed imaginable and is a warm-up for the Westminster Kennel Club dog show coming up in February, so there are a lot of dogs here that will be at the Westminster show and they come here to see how they will do."  Said Alan Dorfman, co-chairman for the show.

For others the enjoyment was basic, "I like the show because of all the cute poodles" said six-year-old Ellie Miller of Clawson.
