The south-west monsoon has arrived in the state with south Gujarat and Saurashtra regions receiving rains on Wednesday,Meteorological department officials said.
The south-west monsoon advanced into Gujarat today and reached south Gujarat and Saurashtra. The monsoon is likely to spread to other parts of the state in the next 36 to 48 hours, said IMD Director Kamaljeet Ray.
The department has predicted moderate to heavy rains or thundershowers at many places in south and north Gujarat regions and Saurashtra in the next two days.
It has also warned of heavy to very heavy rain at a few places in south Gujarat and Saurashtra. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea during the next 24 hours.
Jalalpore in Navsari district has received 126 mm rainfall,the highest so far,followed by Gondal (113mm) and Dhoraji (85mm),Jamkandornama (80mm) in Rajkot,Una (95mm) in Junagadh,Bhanvad (91mm) in Jamnagar and Kamrej (74mm) in Surat district.
As many as 77 talukas have received good rainfall. Choryasi (69mm),Kotdasangani (68mm),Palsana (68mm),Nizhar (58mm),Bhavnagar (56mm),Jafrabad (54mm),Songadh (54mm),Muli (52mm),Maliya (50mm),Bharuch (49mm),Dangs,Vansda and Dharmpur (48mm)
