According to the most recent survey from the National Association of Colleges and Employers, seven of the top 10 highest-paying college degrees belong to engineering majors - a welcome piece of news for N.C. State University’s extensive engineering program.

The highest-paying starting salary of any degree belongs to petroleum engineering at $93,500, followed by computer engineering with $71,700. The average engineering salary in 2012 was $62,535, whereas the average starting salary for all majors belonging to this year’s graduating class is $44,928.

The fastest-growing fields include health sciences and business, while majors like humanities and social-science saw the slowest growth of any profession in 2012, the survey showed.
