LinkedIn employs about 500 people worldwide

The business networking website LinkedIn has said it will base its new international headquarters in Dublin. The company has not yet said how many jobs will be created but they are expected to include positions in sales, finance and customer service. LinkedIn will manage its international expansion from Dublin with overall headquarters remaining in California. Kevin Eyres of LinkedIn Europe said Dublin gives the firm access to a "highly skilled workforce". Several large web companies, including Facebook and Google, have Dublin offices, attracted by a well-educated, English speaking workforce and a relatively low corporate tax rate. On Monday online auction company eBay said it planned to create 150 additional jobs at its European headquarters in west Dublin. LinkedIn was founded in 2003 and says it has 60 million members worldwide. It connects people in the workplace, helping them search for new jobs and make professional contacts, whereas people use sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Bebo for social reasons.
