Turn a Fallen Branch into a Coat Rack

Now that the snow's melted and you can see your yard again, you may find some large branches that you didn't know had fallen—instead of lugging them to the garbage, turn them into a coat rack for your house.

Of course, not all branches are destined to become coat racks, but if you've got a particularly cool-looking one, it can be pretty handy (not to mention quick and easy). All you need (maybe) is a hacksaw and/or utility knife, if the branch needs trimming, and an acrylic-based sealer to make it house-friendly. You'll also need a base, which should be pretty easy—just get a planter pot or something else to hold it in, some rocks to hold it down, and some Plaster of Paris to keep it all stable. It's a nice, rustic way to re-use what otherwise would have been trash—plus, as long as it's not too wildly shaped, it can be handy for small living areas where maybe you don't have a ton of closet space.
