A brazen moped driver was spotted going the wrong way round a roundabout with a toddler on his lap along with another passenger as pillion.

The reckless biker was then caught on camera riding into oncoming traffic on a major road.

As can be seen in this hair-raising clip the toddler is wearing a helmet, but neither the rider - who looked in his late teens - nor his other passenger were wearing any protective headgear.

The trio's shocking display of road rashness was caught on the dashboard camera of a stunned driver who wished to remain anonymous.

He said: "I cannot believe there is someone out there who would drive head on into traffic with a little kid on the front like that.

"I cannot believe these people," he continued. "The one at the front is definitely a toddler.

"It is upsetting. I am just shocked, really shocked. I was totally, totally stunned. It is a bit of a blur."

This display of dangerous driving happened at about 12.35pm on Monday as the driver approached a roundabout on Harrogate Road in Eccleshill, Bradford.

The driver said all three on the bike looked in his direction, and added: "I think they were a bit frightened that I was going to go into them, but I also think they were taunting me a bit.

"They carried on straight along the same side of the road."

The driver said the scooter did have a registration plate on the back, but that he was unable to read what the number was.

West Yorkshire Police told Mirror.co.uk: "Police are aware of an incident which occurred at around 12.35pm on Monday 12 September on Harrogate Road, Eccleshill, in Bradford were a scooter was driven on the wrong side of the road.

Sergeant Cameron Buchan, who is leading on Operation Steerside, which aims to reduce the number of dangerous drivers in Bradford, said: "This incident is incredibly reckless and worrying.

"All three of the people on the scooter are potentially at risk of serious harm, as well as any other motorists they encountered along their journey who had to swerve to avoid them.

"For the riders to have a small child with them on the scooter is particularly irresponsible and they are lucky that no-one was seriously injured.

"As part of Operation Steerside, we are committed to tackling dangerous driving in the Bradford District.

"Since the beginning of the operation in February this year we have dealt with over 4,700 offences, and seized almost 400 vehicles for a variety of reasons or offences."

Councillor Brendan Stubbs, Lib Dem, Eccleshill, said people like those in the video were blighting residents' lives, and added: "It is impressive that they have not managed to kill themselves by now, some of these people."
