Katy Perry ran the show while Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga won big at the 2010 Teen Choice Awards, which were taped last night (Aug. 8) at Los Angeles’ Gibson Ampitheater.
Perry — who hosted alongside the male stars of “Glee” and performed her new single “Teenage Dream” to open the show — took home two surfboard-shaped awards for her Hot 100-topping single, “California Gurls,” including Choice Summer Music Song.
Bieber also won four awards, including Choice Male Artist and Choice Male Breakout Artist, while Gaga was named Choice Female Artist and Choice Female Summer Music Star. Other notable music winners included Choice Music Group winners Selena Gomez & the Scene, Choice Rap Artist Eminem, and Taylor Swift, whose four trophies included Choice Female Movie Breakout for her role in the romantic comedy “Valentine’s Day.”
Jason Derulo, Travie McCoy and Bieber also performed, with the latter showcasing his new single “U Smile” via satellite.
In the TV and movie categories, “Glee”snagged the Choice TV Show: Comedy award, while the “Twilight” vampire franchise earned 12 trophies.
