I want to go to work; I need a job or benefits

I have worked for the same restaurant since 2005. I was working 40 hours a week until October. Due to lack of business, my hours were cut. I was forced to file for partial unemployment.

I lost my benefits April 30 because I didn't work enough. My payments stopped last month. I'm entitled to unemployment until October. Yet I can't receive the remainder of my unemployment until Congress decides if they can allocate money. Will someone please explain to me how I'm supposed to pay my bills? I'm a hard worker and I want to work.

Yet, despite job searching for over a year, I don't get calls. I have family and friends helping with my job search. I send out resumes every day. I have a vast amount of office experience and a strong work ethic.

What's keeping me from being hired? Is it my lack of a college education? Does my current job in a restaurant hold me back? Aren't they forms of discrimination?

I've enrolled in college. Will that improve my chances? I'd like to be positive and say it will. Yet I don't think it will help.

I don't want to be on unemployment. I want to work full time, pay my bills and save to pay back my financial aid. The slackers of the world make it hard for those of us who want to work.
