World’s largest Olympic Torch to burn for the 2010 Winter Olympics

The cauldron atop the Calgary Tower will be burning bright tonight from 7 – 9 p.m. to celebrate the opening ceremony celebrations for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics.

The Tower cauldron will also be lit from 5 – 6 p.m. each day a Canadian Olympic athlete wins a medal during the 2010 Games.

“It’s our way of celebrating and congratulating the athletes on their success in the 2010 Olympics”, says R. Scott Hutcheson, CEO of Aspen Properties Ltd, who own and operate the Calgary Tower.

The cauldron was last lit during the Olympic torch relay celebration on January 18, as seen in the below video. Music in the video is performed by and courtesy of Crystal Plamandon, who performed at the Olympic Torch Relay Celebration.
