Rock a stadium. Bang a chick. Repeat. As lead singer of The Devil’s Share, Dash Conner could get anything or anyone he wanted—until he met Lexi Grant.MONEY. FAME. WHISKEY. SEX.For Dash Conner, lead singer of The Devil’s Share, everything he wanted was his for the asking. Whiskey. Drugs. Money. Sex. But not Lexi Grant. For the first time since he picked up a guitar, a girl was actually demanding he woo her. For a chance with her, Dash would do that and more.Lexi Grant was no groupie. Just because the biggest rock star in the world smiled at her didn’t mean she had to fall into bed with him—but it was going to be awfully hard to resist that impish smile and those tatted abs. Surely one night of fun wouldn’t hurt anyone.Unless that night ends with a broken condom. For Lexi and Dash, that’s just the beginning. Add an overly affectionate pit bull, a missing guitarist, a house full of sorority girls, a junkie ex-bandmate and an extreme aversion to Jäger, and it’s either a recipe for disaster or true love.

I live in Austin, Texas with my husband, daughter, 3 rescue dogs, 1 cat, and one bunny (that doesn't seem to like us). I love reading romance novels as much as I love writing them. I feel like inspiration can come from anywhere; a song lyric, a quote, a weekend with friends. The tiniest things can spark amazing stories.

What if the rock star you had the hots for reciprocated your feelings? A dream come true or a recipe for becoming another conquest for an over-the-top, living large, manwhore? Who knew becoming part of the entourage for a popular band could be the start of an instant mutual attraction that became love, earthy, comical and shared by the enter band? Kind of like having your family around, knowing every time you intimate and calling you out on it.

Play Nice by L.P. Maxa is a fun read, often predictable, but filled with characters that can be totally endearing, a little quirky, a little nosey, but I suppose it’s kind of hard to keep secrets when traveling in a tour bus.

Front man, Dash and photographer Lexi have chemistry, no denying it and with no overdone, in your face sexual encounters, L.P. Maxa gets her message across and isn’t afraid to add a dash of humor to the heat. Well-written, on the light side with a few twists, this is more like spending a few weeks with the band on the road, which was kind of fun! Clearly, the ending was the set up and great segue for the next book in the series as another bandmate gets bitten by the love bug!
Looking to be entertained, with no great angst, and just want something light? Here you go!

I received this copy from L.P. Maxa in exchange for my honest review.

If I promise to play nice...
Play Nice was my introduction to L.P. Maxa and what a treat it was. She turned me into a Devil's Share groupie almost immediately. Those sexy band members are irresistible and I couldn't get enough of them. It was a short, delicious, guilty pleasure read. Yes, sometimes over the top or predictable, but exactly the feel-good read I needed. I'm so excited that this is a series and I have more time with them to look forward to.

The chemistry between Dash & Lexi was immediate and intense. Dash got his first glimpse of her in the middle of a concert when she was side-stage with her best friend, Amy. They were there to see Amy's little brother, Luke, the drummer. Being the lead singer, Dash had a microphone and actually flirted with her in front of thousands of fans, without having a clue who she was. I melted into a puddle right along with her, and them. Everyone knows what a manwhore he is, right? There was no cootie shot available to protect her from his lethal charm. When he directed it at Lexi, all reason left the building, and the best she could hope for was that he would 'play nice' and that her heart would survive the experience.

And then, I met him. That sweet beast. He captured my heart and brought out my protective instincts, especially when he was showing his. I bet he looked hot wearing his headphones. Yup, I want to put my name on the schedule to have him spend the night with me. I bet you are trying to figure out which sexy beast I'm referring to, right? Well, I'm not gonna tell you. I'll just leave you with something to look forward to. I don't want to be the only one with an itchy-clicker in need of a quick fix. I welcome fellow fans, we can hang out together, stand in line hoping for a VIP pass. Maybe if we flash our boobs at Chase he'll let us backstage (wink-wink).

For the humor alone, this book gets a 4 star rating. I really hope that Jacks get his own story, and I'm glad Dylan is the next leading lady in book 2. She cracked me up at the end of this book.

If you want:
1. A little bit of drama
2. Laugh out loud humor
3. A close knit group- that's as close to a family as they can be without blood ties.
4. Instant lust that becomes oh so much more in a short time.

Then you should totally read this book. It will suck you in and not let you go until the end. I really liked the fast pace of the story, too.

MY THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK
-The secondary cast really made this book even more so.
-And, yeah- okay so there was some instant stuff happening, but to be honest it just worked for this story.
-I loved how having Lexi with the band made the guys change in many ways, and how they all bonded.
-I loved their humor and how protective they were.
-They cracked me up with their comments, actions towards Lexi and how they loved her dog, Dagger.
-I loved Dash, and how he was with Lexi, and how he changes.
-The Doctor appointments- super funny.
-Jacks and his awesome comments.

My only regrets would be:
1. The book was too short
2. The ending was too fast- the time jump wasn't something I liked.
3. What was the point of Lacey?
4. Why didn't Lexi speak with Amy more?
5. The stuff with Jared should have been fleshed out more. I hope there's more of a conclusion to that in Smith's book- which is book 2.

Really forgotable book!

Spoilers alert!!

Too much clichés in one package, starting from instant lust to a gun drama in the end.

What bugs me the most is their easy approach to this broken condom problem!
What do you do when you find that you had an unprotected sex with the men you refer as a menwhore? Have some more sex?!?! Why not!
Never heard of STDs? HIV? Pregnancy?

Second: the whole "We could not get a day-after-pill, because of bla, bla" shit? Are you kidding me? This is a 21st century, even in Alabama, the are drugstores open 24/7!!

This book gave us only two kinds of behaviour:
a) already a milion times chewed romance clichés or
b) a really stupid behaviour, which nobody with even a little brain would put in a book, because it is not romance or even appropriate for a two adults.

Two stars is all I can give!

I give this book a 4 star rating because it was cute,
funny, and steamy. It is not what I usually enjoy
because this book was insta everything.

Dash and Lexi fell into insta sex, then insta
relationship, insta love, insta baby and then
insta happily ever after. And.....I enjoyed it.

The rest of the rock star band, banded behind
Dash and Lexi and we have insta family!!!
And it really worked. Not a ton of depth
to the characters, and a little over the top
unrealistic drama, but enough good for me to
really enjoy this book, and read more
by this author.

Loved This Rock Romance

I loved every minute of this romantic and steamy rock romance. Lexi’s best friend, Luke, had just joined The Devils Share as their drummer. Dash, the lead singer, was smitten by Lexi the very first time he saw her but he finds out right away that Lexi was not about one-night stands and Dash is trying to come to terms dealing with the closeness of Luke and Lexi.

I loved watching Lexi bond with the band as she is hired to be the band’s photographer and heads out on tour with them. The connection that Dash and Lexi form is electric and burns up the pages. The storyline in this book made it a huge page turner for me. I can’t wait to read more on the guys in the band.

The Devil’s Share is at the pinnacle of their career. They are traveling, selling out concert venues, have their pick of women in every city and town. They are living the rock ‘n’ roll dream. When their new drummer’s sister and best friend show up at a concert, life for these hard rocking, partying guys is about to change.

Lexi is just thrilled to be visiting her friend Luke, who just so happens to be the newest member of The Devil’s Share. Lexi wasn’t there to have a romp with any of the band members, she was there to hang out with her friends. Dash, the lead singer, is more than a little interested in becoming Lexi’s new friend, but she’s not proving to be quite as easily persuaded as some of his prior conquests.

Lexi can’t help but be attracted to the tatted up, charming rocker. Despite their obvious chemistry, and his attempts, Lexi insists that she is not like one of his groupies. She requires more effort and attention on his part before she is willing to just fall into bed with him. Dash has never been so taken by a woman before, and he is more than up for the challenge!

Play Nice is a fast paced novella that dives right into the story. With humor, drama, mishaps, and plenty of steamy scenes, the book has many elements that make for an interesting rock star romance. As with any shorter length book, I always find myself wanting to know more about the characters and what makes them tick.

This is a quick, entertaining read that I enjoyed from start to finish. With the romance, the hijinks, the camaraderie between the characters…and of course, Dagger, I will be looking forward to continuing this series and discovering more about these bandmates!

I just finished Play Nice and I really liked it. Im all for reading a rocker who reforms for his girl! This will be part of The Devil's Share series and with this being the first, it sure didn't disappoint. It had a great cast of characters, all who provide a lot of depth to the story (Jacks, Luke, Smith, Chase, Dylan...Cant forget Daggers!) I liked the storyline, the rocker story has been done before but had some things that made it is own story. It had me from the get go, and cant wait to see what happens!

I am going through all my Kindle books discovering books I haven't read and forgotten about and re-reading others.
I absolutely LOVE Anne Mercier's RockStar series for me its the ultimate one, There are a few others that rank up there as well, but as I started to read this story, I became increasingly bored with it, I have been switching up my choice of reads lately as it seems not only in the Rockstar world, but the MC world as well, in fact, the entire romance world, even the dark themed ones, and now we have THE BULLY BOOK, they are all the same, I feel like they all have one script and they just change the names places, you get the picture, maybe I'm getting jaded or I am over this kind of thing, I read 450 books last year and it's taken me ages to get back to reading. Smut books are becoming more and more like PORN FILMS, and the descriptions well, I have no idea where they get them from, but they make me cringe. There are far too many of these type of romances. I looked this book up and realised that it is the first of a 6 book series, I hope the rest fair better.
Dash is the typical lead singer with the Devil's Share and Lexi just happens to be the best friend of drummer Luke's sister Amy. He spots her, she gets TOLD by the BEST FRIEND, she has to sleep with him for all woman kind, They meet, she tells him she isn't giving it up he has to woo her, She is a lady and doesn't do that kind of thing, yer what ever, he didn't have to try very hard and she was soon dropping her knickers if that's her playing hard to get, I would have hated to see how easy looks like. Once that happened I sort of lost interest, Just once can you make these guys work for it,. Rock Star Romances are one of my favourite Tropes, but the author has to put something more than they meet she drops knickers, Happily ever after. This is the beginning of the series with DASH and LEXI'S kicking us off, I have read a lot rock star books and I like them gritty, grungy and dirty, this was neither, was it bad no, why 3 stars, because I am not a writer just a reader, I believe in giving credit to that, just because I didn't think its the best doesn't mean others won't. I liked the book it was a NICE read, but nothing special and it doesn't make me want to buy the rest. That is my answer in all things if it is a series then I want the anticipation for the next one to be greater than the one I am reading now, If that makes sense, If I finish a book and think that was okay. I don't go out of my way to hunt down the next.

ARC REVIEW (thanks NETGALLEY!)

I’ll try my damndest to “play nice” with this review.

I dnf 20% in. The story seems very immature and boring. FMC was 27 and acted like she was 15. Idk how old MMC was but he’s a Grammy award winning rockstar who lives on a tour bus. Within minutes of meeting he tells fmc “what is it about you? You make me want to be better, be different” 🙄 They sleep (literally sleep) together the first night on the tour bus because she’s nOT tHAT kiND of GiRl, but in the morning basically trades him a handjob for an extra hour of sleep lmaooo. It was just too insta love and cringe for my taste.

I received a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads

Absolutely enjoyed this first in a new series!! Rock star romance at it's best! With a sexy as sin Dash as the lead singer. Leading lady, Lexy, the bands new drummer's best old friend a photographer asked to join the tour to take some candid pictures at Dash's insistence. He finds her someone he cant just let walk away! The almost love triangle dynamic between old friends Lex and Luke, and Dash make for some fun banter back and forth between the 3 of them. Great jealous possessiveness by Dash, the rock God who has found himself trying to woo a woman for the first time in far too long. I found the book fun & funny with a decent dose of drama, action and steam. L.P. Maxa's writing voice was easy to read and the story kept me engaged until the very end (sort of end? end-ish?). I'd definitely love to hear more from the boys in Devil's Share and look forward to the next book. Maxa gives us well written side characters that kept me intrigued about their own pasts and wanting to know about their futures. I think this series will be very fun to read! Highly recommend to anyone who likes reading Michelle Valentine or Olivia Cunning (two of my favorites)!

This is a fun rockstar romance. It has a bit of everything: funny, sweet, sexy, dramatic, plus a fantastic array of secondary characters that add so much to the story, as well as set up for the next books in the series.

Lexi's friend Luke has just got the position as a new drummer for a well known band. She and his sister go to see him play and Lexi catches the eye of the lead singer, Dash. Their flirting leads to a hot make out session on the bus, which leads to hot sex, which leads to Lexi joining the tour.

While the relationship progresses really quickly, the attraction between them and the feelings that grow from that are believable. They aren't kids, they are old enough to know what they want and their personalities just click. It helps that they are really cool, likeable characters.

This is the sort of book I love to read and re-read. While it isn't knock-it-out-of-the-park awesome, set to live forever as one of my favourites, it is enjoyable and something I will revisit.

The cover and blurb were what first caught my attention. They are both eye catching and piqued my interest. The amazing characters, engaging storyline, and feisty female lead is what kept it. I read Play Nice straight through one night because I was unable to put it down.

Lexi and Dash are both funny, charismatic, and relatable characters. They both had me laughing on every other page. The writing flowed so easily i quickly lost myself in their story. When you add in a group of well developed and extremely likeable supporting characters the story got even better. I felt like I was emotionally connect to everyone in the book not just the main characters.

Though their story was told over just a few short months I never felt like it was rushed. They experienced everything a couple dating for years would which made this book more believable and enjoyable.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads~~

This is a really good read, and has some truly wonderfully funny lines. There are a lot of rockstar romance books around, but this one brings enough originality and doesn't fall into the despair that can bring down other such stories. There are undoubtedly plenty of groupies, definite excesses of the non-legal nature, but the bonds that hold the band and the wider family (including mascot!) are delightful. The budding relationship is both hot and enticing, and the honesty between the leads makes the story just that much better. It is the first of a series, and leaves us a little in the lurch at the end - but not in a bad way - other than wanting the next installment as soon as possible!

This was a quick, fun read. It started off fun and exciting, but it got serious very quickly. The reaction from Lexi and Dash about possibly being pregnant was interesting and not the normal response from two people who just met each other. The situation with Lexi and Luke was just odd, even though they said one thing, you can tell one didn't really mean it. Then with all of the guys treating Lexi like royalty was a bit much. Lexi was supposed to be taking photos of the band, but it seemed like she wasn't really doing that, so that was interesting.

Overall this was a decent novel and I'm glad I got a chance to read it!

Really enjoyed this rock star romance read, and can't wait to get my hands on the books that (hopefully) follow, so we get more of Lex and Dash's journey, and with Smith getting his book next, PLEASE tell me we won't have to wait very long! My only wish with this book, was that it had been a bit longer, with several situations or moments going into a bit more detail. Wanting MORE in a book is a credit to the author for writing a story that pulls you in, to begin with! I definitely recommend this one! :)

Thanks Wicked Reads for a copy to read and review.

Sexy Rock Stars.....check. Hot Lead Singer.... Check.

Love sexy rock star books, especially ones without all the groupie drama. Lex boards a rock star bus and her future becomes a bit more clear as she spends time with Dash the lead singer. I enjoyed the romance from the start that bloomed between Dash and Lexie. This group seems a bit playful and less manwhorish than most rocker books. I enjoyed meeting all the members and the drama they created. Four stars of entertainment!

I loved this book . The kind of read that I always look for and seldom find .

There was so much potential in this book. I was really excited about the premise as I'm a big fan of the concept of rockstar romances (although, I will say, in practice they are mostly let downs). The characters were great. They had interesting back stories and relationships with one another (and others). The events that take place were also entertaining, and created (mostly) a good amount of suspense without being over the top.

With that said, I'm just over the instalove. In part, this book is feeling the brunt of my frustration because it's about the 5th book I've read consecutively with this issue. I completely understand instant attraction, and I was on board with that. But physical attraction is not enough to make a slutty rocker suddenly change his ways. It just isn't. And the depths to which that love was taken, it just wasn't believable. There were quite a few other plot points that followed that trend, and by the end, I was just glad I wouldn't have to read another page devoted to how much Dash loved her and/or in which he was bawling his eyes out.

I think this one is a solid 2.5 stars from me, but since I keep changing my rating from 2/3 stars, I'm leaving it at 3. I think others will like this book - it just had some components of this genre that I really dislike.
