Magic Tricks and the Ministry in Uganda

On a Tuesday in mid March, three men from a US based foundation made a detour during their trip in Uganda to visit our very new Ministry CarePoint in the capital city of Kampala. Our local staff was eager to greet Paul, Matt, and Larry as these three men sought to see firsthand what God was doing through Christ's Hope International. They played with the children, toured the Ministry CarePoint, fellowshipped with the staff, and even performed a few magic tricks to the enjoyment of our children. This wouldn't have been too different (other than the magic tricks) from many other visits we have had to one of our Ministry CarePoints, except for the fact that these men and their foundation is a trusted partner that has actively sought to help our children receive the funding they need to ensure their education.
During their visit the men were introduced to and told the story of Hassan and Hussein, two twin boys attending the Ministry CarePoint.
"They were abandoned by their mother to the care of their aunt who lived with her husband and their three children. They all lived in a single room. Additional mouths were indeed going to be a challenge to feed. Being the youngest in the new family and food not being adequate, they were going to be under the threat of malnutrition. Their condition was brought to us by concerned community leaders and their neighbors. After their registration into the Ministry CarePoint, the condition at their aunt’s home became difficult. The husband pressured her to move the boys to another relative that lived far from their current location. This meant they were condemned to not having an opportunity to go to school." explained a staff member to Paul, Matt, and Larry. "Our team leader embarked on a child advocacy campaign within the community and a loving foster family was found that offered to take in these two large eyed adorable boys. This has allowed them to continue attending the Ministry CarePoint. This has given them a future with hope. Without the intervention of the Ministry CarePoint, these twins were going to be condemned to poverty for the rest of their lives. They are bright boys that give amazing answers during their caregroup study time at the Ministry CarePoint."
We are thankful that Paul, Matt, Larry, and their foundation has graciously given us a matching grant that will go towards the educational costs of all our Ministry CarePoint children in all of our ministry countries. Providing the opportunity to go to school is one of the important pieces that the Ministry CarePoint brings to the lives of children just like Wasswa and Kato. We are so very thankful to have ministry partners that are helping us reach even further in that effort.
The Kisakye Ministry CarePoint opened in October of 2015 and, with the partnership of New Life Community Church in Chicago, is doing amazing work in the lives of HIV and AIDS affected children in Kampala.
If God has laid a particular calling on your heart, such as education, we want you to follow that call. And we want you to know that you can do that with Christ's Hope International. Whether you're a foundation, a small business, a church, or simply a passionate person, there are many opportunities to serve AIDS affected children.

Is God calling you to live out your passion through serving his children in Sub-Saharan Africa?

For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
Romans 12:4-8
