The Container Store will open its first Nebraska location at Westroads Mall this fall.
The store will open in 25,000 square feet on the south side of the mall, in the former food court space.
The old food court was closed and replaced by Flagship Commons, a new food hall, in December. Some food court tenants, including Raising Cane’s and Dairy Queen, are in the process of relocating throughout the mall.
The Container Store says it offers 10,000 organizational products “designed to simplify customers’ lives” by saving space and time. The store will be organized into 16 sections, including kitchen, closet, office, shelving, bath, food storage, laundry and more.

The store has been among the most requested by Omaha shoppers.
“This is a retailer that has an outstanding track record and is usually associated with high-end shopping centers and retailers,” said Jim Sadler, senior general manager of Westroads. “It brings something to the merchandising mix that, quite frankly, we never had before.”
The space will remain one level with a separate outdoor entrance. Demolition has already begun, Sadler said.
Sadler said the Texas-based chain, which operates 78 stores throughout the United States, has had its eye on Omaha for a while.
Chicago-based mall operator General Growth Properties, which owns Westroads and Oak View Mall, has a longstanding relationship with the retailer.
“We certainly felt it was the right fit for us, and they did as well. We’re both very excited to get it open later on this year.”
